Research of Driving Performance for Heavy Duty Vehicle Running on Long Downhill Road Based on Engine Brake

چکیده
For the safety problem of heavy duty vehicles running on long downhill sections, a model was built for the application of engine brake and service brake combination based on test results. And a model of brake temperature rise for heavy duty vehicles running on long downhill sections was also established. For different braking modes, gear positions, speed and downhill slopes, brake temperature rising to 250°C was used as the index. And then simulation of brake temperature rise and downhill distance was researched. Simulation results show that the combined braking of low gear and high speed should be adopted for heavy duty vehicles running on long downhill sections.

Design and analysis of a thermoelectric generator for a heavy-duty vehicle in real road test
Heavy duty vehicles have a great share on fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gases in the world, while they waste two third of chemical energy of fuel. On the other hand, simplicity and long life of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are considered more and more to convert thermal energy to electrical one. In this paper a TEG designed in the exhaust system of Renault Midlum 195 Dxi Engine. Th...
متن کاملAdaptive Continuously Variable Compression Braking Control for Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Modern heavy-duty vehicles are equipped with compression braking mechanisms that augment their braking capability and reduce wear of the conventional friction brakes. In this paper we consider a heavy-duty vehicle equipped with a continuously variable compression braking mechanism. The variability of the compression braking torque is achieved through controlling a secondary opening of the exhau...

متن کاملComparison of particle mass and solid particle number (SPN) emissions from a heavy-duty diesel vehicle under on-road driving conditions and a standard testing cycle.
It is important to understand the differences between emissions from standard laboratory testing cycles and those from actual on-road driving conditions, especially for solid particle number (SPN) emissions now being regulated in Europe. This study compared particle mass and SPN emissions from a heavy-duty diesel vehicle operating over the urban dynamometer driving schedule (UDDS) and actual on...
متن کاملEffects of vehicle speed and engine load on motor vehicle emissions.
Laboratory studies have provided a foundation of knowledge regarding vehicle emissions, but questions remain regarding the relationship between on-road vehicle emissions and changes in vehicle speed and engine load that occur as driving conditions change. Light-duty vehicle emissions of CO, NO x , and NMHC were quantified as functions of vehicle speed and engine load in a California highway tun...
